12 Pregnancy Essentials for Maximum Comfort

You may have heard, but I am pregnant with my 4th child. That means I’ve done this whole pregnancy thing a few times and figured out what I really need and don’t need while growing a tiny human.

Here’s my list of completely unrelated things that you’ll want during pregnancy to make life easier and more comfortable. You can shop the list here, or read on to hear my recommendations and why I love them.

Morning Sickness Relief

If you’re in the first trimester, you’re probably experiencing some morning sickness or nausea. I am fortunate to not deal with severe morning sickness. I do however get extremely nauseous in early pregnancy, especially if I’m not eating often enough. The two things that helped me the most were sucking on sour candies or peppermint.

Here are some sour candies and peppermints specifically made to help ease morning sickness for pregnant women.

Comfortable Maternity Clothes

Heading into the second trimester, you may start to feel uncomfortable in your normal clothes. Maternity jeans and dresses are must haves to stay comfortable for the long haul. Here are two pieces I currently own and love.

The dress isn’t maternity, but I sized up 1 and it fit through my last pregnancy. These jeans are a basic skinny jean that are super comfortable through all stages of pregnancy. You can shop more of my maternity looks by following me in the liketoknow.it app.

Belly Comfort and Support

Ok , so next let’s talk about the belly. As you begin to stretch you can become itchy and uncomfortable. I highly recommend using a belly butter to relieve the itch and a belly band for added support.

Comfortable Sleep

Sleep! Pregnancy is weird because at first all you can do is sleep (at all the wrong times) and then suddenly it’s like you can never get enough. Between pregnancy insomnia, pee breaks, and belly aches it can be tough to get comfortable.

I highly recommend getting a wedge pillow and/or a c-shape body pillow. The wedge gives added support under your belly when you lay on your side. The c-shape has a little more flexibility for adding support wherever you need it.

Maternal Health

Staying healthy is so important, especially when growing a tiny human. Two big ways you can do that are to take your vitamins and stay hydrated.

I picked up this water bottle to help keep a count on how many ounces I’m drinking daily. It has helped a ton! Prenatal vitamins have all the essential nutrients to help keep you and baby healthy, just set a reminder to take them because mom-brain is real.

Pregnancy Hygiene

Last but not least, we have to stay clean. I don’t care what time of year it is, pregnancy has always made me more sweaty (awkward I know) so finding a clean body wash for all those extra showers has been a life saver. Don’t forget the loofa on a stick! Especially if you’re in the third trimester when bending and reaching become increasingly more challenging.

You may want to order a pack of body wash with different fragrances, because sometimes the scents you once loved can become suddenly repulsive or something you used to hate could become your new favorite fragrance! Like I said, pregnancy is weird.

There you have it! All of these have helped me get through my previous pregnancies and are getting me through this current one as well. I can’t wait to snuggle up with my c-shape body pillow tonight after I clean myself with my loofa on a stick and rub that belly butter all over my itchy belly!

  1. I absolutely loved my pregnancy pillow when I was pregnant. I’d still be using it today if my husband didn’t hate it. Lol.
